Frequently Asked Questions

When is the 2010 Camp Season?

The 2010 Liberty Lake Summer Season runs from June 28 through August 20.  We also run a "PRE-Camp and POST-Camp" week (6/21-25, 8/23-27) for those families who need the coverage, and those children who just can't get enough of Liberty Lake!

Do we sign up per week?  Per day?  For the whole season?

The "Regular Camp Season" is 8-weeks, although camper sessions can range between 2-10 weeks in length.  We recommend at least 4 weeks for campers to make strong relationships.  Also 2 or 3 week sessions must be consecutive.

What are the Summer hours?

The Liberty Lake Buses arrive to camp by 8:45 AM, and pull out promptly at 4 PM.  Before & After Camp child care is available upon request at NO EXTRA CHARGE.

Is Transportation Included?

YES- Central Express Transportation (and/or extended hours) is included in tuition for most areas.  "Neighborhood Pickup" is offered when available (not all areas) with a 10% tuition surcharge.

What is "Central Express Pickup"

Included in tuition- meeting the bus at a local shopping center, school, or corner near your home (subject to availability in your area.  "Central Express" offers the quickest, most efficient route to and from Camp, and is the choice of most Liberty Lake families.  We attempt to include "early" stops, as well as "late" stops on the same routes- for the convenience of our Camp Families.

What is "Neighborhood Transportation"?

A 10% Surcharge, and only available in select areas, children are either picked up at a corner in your neighborhood- similar to the school year- or at your doorstep, if the bus route allows.  "Neighborhood Pickups" are often the first picked up in the morning, and the last dropped off in the afternoon.  The only families who utilize this, are ones who truly need it.

How short is the bus ride?

Except for our farthest areas, Buses generally pick up between 8-8:30 AM, and drop off between 4:05-4:45 PM.  The maximum ride in most areas is 45 minutes.

Do you offer "before & after camp" care?

YES- At Liberty Lake, you can choose "before/after camp care" in lieu of transportation (no additional fee).  The hours are from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Is Lunch Included

OH YES- And it's DEEE-LICIOUS!  Hot Lunches every day- with Assorted Sandwiches, Fresh Fruit, Salad Bar and Pasta Bar available every day as alternatives, plus fruit, drinks, desserts and snacks!  Click here for more info.

How many campers will be in my child's group?

Approximately 10-15 campers of the same gender and age, depending on age/division.  The Camp is broken down into divisions of "Turtles" (Pre K - K), "Freshman" (1st/2nd grade), "Sophs" (3rd/4th grade), "Junior" (5th/6th) and "Senior" (7th-9th).

How many staff are in the group?

One "Group Leader" (College or older) and up to two "Counselors" (HS Jr. or older) depending on the age and size of the group.

Who teaches the activities?

Adults with teaching/professional experience.  Actual coaches, art teachers, etc.

How many electives do the Campers get each day, and when do we choose them?

Out of the 8 periods in the day, the Freshman get 3, Sophs and Juniors get 4, and Seniors get 5.  "Activity Preferences" are chosen in the Spring, and can be updated from week to week online through the CampMinder system.

What do you do on Rainy Days?

At Liberty Lake... THERE IS NO RAINY DAY SCHEDULE.  You heard right!  Covered activities continue as normal, outdoor activities move under pavilions as their Adult Specialists run games based on their outside activity.

Do we have swim instruction?

YES.  Pre-K through 4th grade: Required.  5th to 9th grade: Elective  (BESIDES daily "Free Swim")

Do we swim in the lake?

Most Liberty Lakers LOVE to!  There's a really nice beach, plus a deep end with a water trampoline and a dock that kids enjoy swimming to!  But there's also a great "Olympic Size" pool as well.  The lake is also for BOATING- row boats, kayaks, canoes, pedal boats, etc.- AND FISHING- Bass, Sunnies, Pike, Perch, Blue Gill, Catfish & Carp.

What ages attend Liberty Lake?

4 to 15.  Our youngest staff are entering 11th grade (16 years old).

What is the "TURTLES" Program for 4 & 5 year olds?

The Turtles enjoy a traditional program (a set schedule) with a healthy mix of athletics, creative arts, and unstructured play (playground, sandbox, story time, etc).  Groups are led by adult female staff, and are assisted by counselors who specifically love working with pre-school aged children.  There is a special discount for the Turtles Program as well!  The famous Liberty Lake Elective Program begins with campers entering 1st grade.

What is the "CIT" Program?

CITs- Counselors in Training- are entering 10th graders who are looking for a summer of fun in the sun, while taking on some responsibilities and learning about what it takes to be a leader. CITs choose their favorite electives just like campers, and act as "assistant counselors" at them.  PLUS, it's really a leadership training program that will push its participants to their limits!  Besides working on our skills each day, we do community service, take a couple of fun recreational trips, and make some very tight friendships with real nice people.  Successful CITs can become the first Counselors hired in the Fall for the next summer!  Send us an Email for more info: cit@libertylakedaycamp.com
