Taking care of other people's children is a tremendous responsibility that we take very seriously.  At Liberty Lake, we only hire high-energy staff who are truly interested in making a positive impact in the lives of young people, as well as knowing how to have some SERIOUS FUN!

"Dear Andy, I really enjoyed my job last summer- It changed my life.  I'm holding off law school and applying for a program my school has where you teach in inner city schools for 2 years and get your masters in education- I really want to do it!  So thanks for taking a chance on me, it was great!  I learned so much about myself.."   Girls Group Leader, D.P.

We create an upbeat and positive environment of mutual respect at camp.  Group Leaders and Counselors are provided Ongoing Leadership Training that will benefit their college applications, build their job resume', and enrich the rest of their lives.

"Dear Andy: I just wanted to let you know how greatly thankful I am for getting the opportunity to work at such a wonderful camp. This past summer gave me memories that will last a lifetime and I have you to thank for that. Thank you!  ...At my interview, I was told that at Liberty Lake I could make a difference in a kid's life. I really didn't dwell too much on these words until something happened at camp that I did not expect. I fell in love with the children.  Liberty Lake is a really great camp and honestly, I know that I couldn't have picked a better summer job. So, if you would like me to come back next summer, most certainly will. While working at Liberty Lake, I discovered more about myself then I could have anywhere else. Liberty Lake is like a second home to me. Thanks again!"   Boys Counselor R.R.

Why work at Camp this Summer? WHY CAMP?

Liberty Lake Summer Camp Job Descriptions
Group Leader- Each group of children is led by a Group Leader who fills the role of parent, coach, teacher, psychologist and social worker as needed.  The Group Leader is the true leader of the group- responsible for everything from attendance to overall happiness.  The Group Leader also oversees their co-counselor(s).  Group Leaders assist specialists at elective activities, and if qualified, can lead a select few.  Group Leaders are college students or older.  Many are young teachers.
Counselor- Counselors are the "big brothers and sisters" of their campers.  Each group of children has one or two counselors as well as the Group Leader.  Much of the summer 's success lies with the relationship between counselors and campers.  For most campers, great counselors = great summers.  Counselors assist specialists during elective activities, and provide motivation and emotional support to the campers throughout the day.  Counselors are entering 11th and 12th grade.
Athletic Specialist- Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Street Hockey, Soccer, Tennis, Lacrosse, Volleyball, Archery, Rock Climbing, Ultimate Frisbee, Golf and Martial Arts. Specialists lead the groups of children with the assistance of the counselors and group leaders.  Athletic Specialists are usually teachers with experience coaching children.
Creative Specialist- Drawing, Painting, Pottery, Woodworking, Jewelry Making, Leatherworks, Music, Dance, Drama, Science, Nature, Camping, Magic, Poetry, Newspaper, Harry Potter Club, Cooking, Digital Photography & Rocketry.  Specialists lead the groups of children with the assistance of the counselors and group leaders.  Creative Specialists are usually experienced teachers.
Waterfront/Pool- Lifeguards, Swim Instructors, Boating & Fishing.  Lifeguards need Red Cross lifeguarding certification or "W.S.I."
Support Services- Office Staff, Building and Grounds (work available from Spring through Fall)
Food Service- Catering, Serving Food from Memorial Day through Labor Day
Health Center- Head Nurse, Assistant to Nurse, Camp Mom

C.I.T. (Counselors in Training)- Entering 10th graders looking for a challenging summer in a Leadership Training Program supervised by our Directors and Division Leaders.  Each CIT is assigned to a specific camper group or specialty area, and they spend their days doing most of the things that Counselors do.  The main differences are in the amount of supervision they are given, daily leadership training workshops, a "period off" each day, and three exciting trips.  With an very reduced tuition and many of the perks of being both a Camper and Counselor, the Liberty Lake CIT program is a very social experience, with approximately 25 young people enrolled each summer.  If the experience is successful, the CITs are the first Counselors hired in the fall for the next summer!

"Andy, I just wanted to say thank you for hiring me to work at Liberty Lake this summer. It was by far one of the most fun and memorable summers I have ever experienced! And now I understand why my brother was always so tired, but always so happy, when he came home from work everyday! My first ever camp experience was awesome and I am so glad that I worked at Libety Lake! Have a great year and hopefully I will see you next summer!" Girls Group Leader D.M.
